The tactical combat is interesting but gets repetitive because accessing late game units and tech takes forever. City management is far too hands off for how long campaigns last and there is a definite impetus toward ICS. There's not much of interest to do on the strategy map so you might move a unit and then end turn endlessly. It feels a lot like the endgame of civ after a while.
